I used to be something of a purist in my approach to learning French, virtually never resorting to English in an attempt to figure out the meaning of a word, phrase, or sentence. No longer. As I attempt to resurrect my mastery of a language I’ve rarely used over the past 11 years, I’ll be translating as often as I feel necessary.
