I love certain emotive, slightly exotic words such as bizarre, macabre, and buffoon. Just as a festively-dressed stranger who can play the accordion adds life and joy to a social gathering, so do these words, all of Latin origin and most at least slightly onomatopoetic, add variety and colour to one’s writing.
